GLIDER

Speed Flying is a new winter flying sport created by paraglider pilots and skydivers looking for a new sensation and to create a link between gliding by ski and gliding through the air.
For a few years, pioneers have used skydiving parachutes or modified kites.
Linking the flight of a glider with the turn of your skis adds a new dimension to the descent from a mountain! It’s an exhilarating sport which will excite and fascinate both participants and spectators…
This new sport has taken the slope by storm, quickly attracting more and more enthusiasts as the buzz of excitement sweeps across Europe! First in France, where Speed Flying was born, but now also in Switzerland and Austria with Italy and Germany not far behind.
Gin Gliders decided early on to be the first brand to create a wing specially designed for Speed Flying.
That wing is ready, we call it: NANO.
NANO is a glider specifically adapted to the practice of this new sport. Simple and easy to use, NANO is available in 4 sizes: 10m2, 12m2, 13m2 and 14m2. Pick your size according to weight and more importantly experience. The smaller the glider the faster you go...
The 13m2 and 14 m2 are for light or heavy beginners and intermediates.
The 12 m2 needs to be flown by very experienced pilots with a very good and precise level of control.
The 10 m2 is dedicated to the best expert pilots only, and is currently only available for the GIN Team Speed Flying pilots.
Experts flying the 10m will be able fly at well over 100km/h!!!
Novices will be flying at more like 35-70km/h. These gliders have a trim system to speed up or slow down flight.
They are very easy to launch, extremely solid in flight and responsive to your input.
Speed Flying is an exhilarating experience that should be practised with care and in a carefully chosen environment.
The Gin Nano is sold complete with glider, a convertible harness/rucksack and carabiners.

Speedflying is a new winter flying sport. Created by paraglider pilots and skydivers looking for a new and exhilarating sensation and to create a link between gliding by ski and gliding through the air. For a few years now, a handful of pioneers, like Gin's test pilots, have used skydiving parachutes or modified kites.

Gin and his team, not only have the advantage of experience when designing a speedflying wing, but have also tested everything personally in the most challenging environments, right from the very top (from the first exciting speedflights from Mont Blanc and the Eiger) all the way back to the basics (setting up the first speed flying schools in the Alps). From either extreme and everywhere between, Gin's team is best placed to provide the ideal speedflying wing.

Winter 2005/06: Gin Gliders was the first brand to design a wing specially designed for Speedflying: The NANO was born, inspiring many to take up speedflying in 2006.
Our basic philosophy has always been: easy, safe and maximum fun.

Winter 2008: the 08 version is ready.
Now with diagonal ribs and many 2nd generation improvements, the NANO is more compact, even easier, and offers perfect handling. Added to these improvements are a new look and new optimised and improved materials, the direct result of the many hours in the extreme and harsh environments off-piste and also in the schools.
The NANO is still true to the same philosophy; easy, safe and fun.
The new 08 version is now one important step forward compared to our earlier models and way ahead of the competition.

The NANO has a wide speed range and in addition has a trim system to vary the glide angle and to speed up or slow down flight. Adjust the NANO to match your skill and the terrain. All sizes are very easy to launch, extremely solid in flight and offer an easy, progressive and responsive reaction to your inputs. The NANO range is wide enough to suit everyone, from novice to speed junkie.

The NANO is delivered complete with glider, a specially designed "Speedflyer" convertible harness/rucksack, carabiners and a stowable, fast packing bag.

Available in 4 sizes.
Pick your size according to your weight and more importantly experience.
The 13m2 and 14 m2 are for light or heavy beginners and regular intermediates.
The 12 m2 needs to be flown by experienced pilots.
The 10 m2 is dedicated to expert pilots only.

The practice of speedflying needs a good level of skiing.
You need to learn from the paragliding schools who are set up and able to teach speedflying. You will gain essential knowledge and you will learn faster in a fun, controlled, less stressful and safer environment.

Practicing on ski slopes is forbidden. If your resort has not already designated an area for speedflying, it is highly recommended that you contact the ski resort safety service. They should be able to give authorisation for an off-piste area to practice. As you may be a pioneer in your area, make sure you maintain a responsible attitude in your first steps toward speedflying.

All responsible speedflying pilots should equip themselves with a complete set of good off-piste ski and avalanche equipment (Recco, transceiver (Arva), shovel, probe, etc...)

It is absolutely essential to check the weather forecast and snow conditions. Take any advice from resort safety experts or high mountain guides.

Always practise with utmost safety in mind for maximum enjoyment and fun.

GIN introduces the third generation of the NANO, the speedriding wing by which all others are compared.

The new 2009 version, designed for learning and regular practice, is a leap forward from our earlier models and way ahead of the competition.

In addition to the latest technical improvements are a new look and optimized and improved materials, the direct result of our experience of many hours use in harsh, extreme off-piste environments and also in schools.

The NANO 2009 follows the same philosophy as its predecessor: simple, easy, safe and fun. The NANO 2009 has a wide speed range, able to be flown slower than its predecessor. In addition, it has a trim system to vary the glide angle to speed up or slow down flight. Adjust the NANO to match your skill and the terrain, even when it is steep. All sizes are very easy to launch, extremely solid in flight, and offer an easy, progressive and responsive reaction to your inputs. The turn is more 'skiable', without parasitic lift. Lift comes clearly and obviously when you decide. The NANO range is wide enough to suit everyone, from novices to experienced pilots.

The NANO 2009 is delivered complete with a new, specially designed 'SPEEDRIDER' convertible harness/rucksack, carabiners and a stowable, fast-packing bag. There is also an 'zip and clip' airbag, which is perfectly suited to both school and regular use.

Available in 3 sizes: 11 - 12.5 - 14
Choose your size according to your weight and-more importantly-experience.
The 14 m2 is suitable for heavy weight beginners and regular intermediates.
The 12.5 m2 is suitable for light weight beginners and regular pilots.
The 11 m2 is suitable for regular and experienced pilots.

New in the 2009 GIN speedride range, the FLUID is the glider for very experienced and expert riders.

Speedflying, a new flying concept.
Speedflying is flying fast downhill.
Speedflying is a new flying concept. The concept has evolved from speedriding, the fast mountain descent under a speedglider launched on skis. For the past few years, Gin Gliders has been the leading innovator in speedriding. Now comes the first Gin Gliders speedglider launchable by foot: the Bobcat.
Speedgliders are not scaled-down, mini-paragliders… read more about Speedflying and Speedriding design concept here
Bobcat, the Speedflying wing
The Bobcat is the speedglider launchable by foot created by Gin Gliders. The Bobcat is opening new horizons of piloting for expert and careful pilots with a lot of flying experience. The air, the speed and the fun are joined for a new dimension of flight… the possibilities are growing! The play of trajectories and speed against the relief opens new piloting potential, as yet unexplored using soft canopies.
The Bobcat will give you the possibility to return to the original soul of flight and also to open up new fields of practice. You will be able to fly down the mountain in wider aerological conditions with this simple and solid glider. You will have fun with strong wind ground handling and soaring…

Speedflying, fields of use…
"Traditional" Speedflying
Unlike modern paragliders, the Bobcat will give you an adrenaline-powered ride down a mountain, following the slopes and ridges. This is due to a lower glide ratio and higher trim speed. You'll reach the bottom faster, but with a huge grin on your face.
Soaring in stronger winds
How many pilots confronted with "strong" winds of 30-45 km/h, have dreamt of the Bobcat? Here it is!
On the sea coast, in the mountains, or on your favorite hill, when it is impossible to take out your paraglider from the bag, the Bobcat is ready to take over.
Ground training
How many paragliding schools have dreamt of the Bobcat? Here it is.
To learn in safety on school slopes the basis of inflation and to become familiar with techniques for stronger winds, the Bobcat is a wonderful education tool.
Mountaineering
How many para-mountaineers climbing down from a summit, have dreamt of the Bobcat? Here it is!
The Bobcat will allow you to take off and fly in a little stronger wind than would be possible with a paraglider. The Bobcat is compact, light and will easily fit in the bottom of an experienced mountaineer’s backpack. Its instantaneous inflation and its high stability in turbulence will allow you to experience mountains in a thrilling new way.
